E2P2L Enhances its Commitment to Achieving Carbon Neutrality by Joining the Sino-French Carbon Neutrality Center (CNC)

Share to

In the scope of fostering global environmental efforts, E2P2L has officially become a key player in the Franco-Chinese Carbon Neutrality Center (CNC), marking a significant step forward in the quest for carbon neutrality. This collaboration, initiated on November 23rd, 2023, positions E2P2L at the forefront of the "Carbon Neutrality and Environment" sector, underlining its dedication to pioneering sustainable solutions for a healthier planet.

The establishment of the CNC was celebrated on April 6th, 2023, during a meeting in Beijing between French President Emmanuel Macron and Chinese Chairman Jinping Xi. This occasion saw the signing of a declaration of intent between France's Ministère de l’Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche (MESR), the Ministère de l’Europe et des Affaires Etrangères (MEAE), and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of the People's Republic of China, laying the groundwork for a collaborative effort to combat climate change.

With over 320 researchers, 100 doctoral students, 60 research laboratories, and 9 joint research structures, the CNC is a powerhouse of innovation and scientific exploration. E2P2L, undertaking cutting-edge research and technological development, is a vital component of this initiative. The center's focus areas include tackling challenges related to carbon neutrality in agriculture, biodiversity, and the environment, with E2P2L focusing on developing new catalytic and sustainable chemistry solutions.

E2P2L's involvement in the CNC is not just a testament to its commitment to environmental stewardship but also a recognition of its significant contributions to the field, including breakthroughs in the valorization of C2 biomass. Examples of this are the oxidation and amination of glycolaldehyde, the hydrogenation of glyoxylic acid to glycolic acid, and the preparation of phenolic compounds from furan derivatives.

By leveraging its expertise in advanced catalytic concepts, sustainable processes, electrochemistry, surface science, computational chemistry, and artificial intelligence, E2P2L aims to address the most pressing issues of our time, including global warming, natural resource scarcity, oil dependency, and pollution.

This partnership between E2P2L and the CNC is more than just a collaboration; it's a beacon of hope for future generations, promising a world where the needs of the present are met without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. As E2P2L continues to push the boundaries of what's possible, its efforts alongside the CNC are a reminder of the power of collective action in the face of global challenges.
